If you'd like to, yes. We offer both wheel throwing and hand building workshops where you can sculpt your own projects by hand, or throw your own pottery on the wheel.
Our team will take care of finishing and glazing your pieces — it’s all included in your workshop fee.
If you’d prefer to glaze your own pottery, you’re welcome to join a public Paint-Your-Own-Pottery (PYOP) session from our events calendar about 3–4 weeks after your class for an additional fee. Just ask your instructor for the details!
In our wheel workshops, you’ll get 2–3 chances to throw on the wheel with guidance from one of our talented artist-instructors. We’ll finish and glaze your favorite piece (included in your class fee), and any additional pieces can be processed and fired for $10 each.
These workshops are completely beginner-friendly — we provide hands-on instruction while giving you the freedom to explore and play in the clay.
Your pieces will be finished, fired, glazed, and shipped to you in 6-8 weeks.
Pottery is a slow and intentional process — after your workshop, your pieces are carefully dried, trimmed, bisque fired, glazed, and fired again before being sorted and packed for pickup or shipping. This full process can take up to 8 weeks, as we take great care to ensure every piece is finished beautifully.
Pottery takes time because each piece goes through several stages that can’t be rushed. After your workshop, your work must dry completely before its first firing (bisque firing) — firing too soon can cause cracking or breakage. Once bisque fired, each piece is hand-glazed and fired again at a higher temperature to create its final finish.
Since we batch everyone’s work together (dozens of pieces per week!) and each stage takes time to complete safely, the full process can take up to 6–8 weeks. We take care to ensure every piece is fired properly and finished beautifully.
Pottery created in our studio is fully vitrified and safe for food, microwaves, and dishwashers. Handle with care and avoid sudden temperature changes.
Our skilled instructors carefully trim, fire, and glaze your pieces to ensure the best results. Trimming refines edges, reduces weight, and improves functionality.
That said, pottery is unpredictable — pieces can crack, break, or go missing during the process. We do everything possible to give your work the best chance of success. Please note: clay shrinks about 13% after firing.
